Neuromuscular diseases are a group of more than 150 neurological diseases affecting the muscles and nervous system, causing a progressive loss of muscle strength. They are within the group of so-called rare diseases, diseases being little known and mostly genetic. Onset may occur at any stage of life, but more than 50% occur in childhood. In overall terms, there are more than 60,000 affected by neuromuscular disease throughout Spain.

 

The María de Villota Project: «First Star» aims to provide quality treatment of motoric physiotherapy, respiratory and individualized pool and funded for these children. The main objective of the project is to improve the quality of life of children given the complexity of childhood disability, enabling them to achieve maximum engine development and enhance their independence.
